As an extrovert (surprise), I like to spend Thanksgiving alone – to rest, recharge, and have honest conversations with myself.
This year, my parents had other ideas. We are spending Thanksgiving in Hilton Head.
Giving Thanks
I am thankful that my mother and stepfather are in good health and can travel. I am thankful that we like each other, so spending time together is a joy, not an obligation.
I am thankful for advancements in lung transplant surgery, which paved the way for Sue, the wife of my dear friend Penny, to successfully undergo a double lung transplant in the Fall of 2021.
I am thankful for advances in the treatment of pancreatic cancer that have extended the life of my Uncle Larry, allowing him to spend time with his first grandchild, Theodore James.
I am thankful for advances in the treatment of prostate cancer, which have allowed my dear friend Roger to celebrate another birthday on November 2. Happy belated birthday, Roger!
Of all that I have, I am most thankful for my family and friends, who provide unconditional love and support.
If you celebrate, I wish you a joyous Thanksgiving!
