Over a million women have been released from prison in the last three decades. Many have been released without resources, leaving them vulnerable to recidivism, poverty, and abusive relationships. A 2019 study by the Prison Policy Initiative highlights these and other challenges faced by returning female citizens. Since the late 1990s, some reentry programs have been established to help address these problems; however, the network to provide enough treatment and services for the 81,000 women released from prison each year is just not enough.
Remember to join us at Noon today for our webinar. We will review the challenges faced by returning female citizens and discuss solutions that can help expand the capacity to provide greater access to treatment, both while these women are incarcerated and once, they are back in their communities.
Hope to see you soon,
