For years, there has been a myth that Black women are the most educated group in America. Since the recent Executive Order, “Ending Radical And Wasteful Government DEI Programs And Preferencing,” I have noticed increased social media postings repeating this myth.
To dispel this myth, I have calculated various measures. None of the calculations indicate that Black women represent the most educated group. Aditionally on October 17, 2023, the WISER Wednesday email included a table showing that in 2022, Hispanic women earned more bachelor’s degrees than the combined total of Black men and women.
I encourage you to examine the data.

- By year, the distribution across ethnicity, race, and sex for specific degree attainment
- Count per 1,000 by Eethnicity, race, and sexwith specific degree attainment
When you hear someone make this false statement, please correct them.
