“Ring out the false, ring in the true.” —Alfred Lord Tennyson

For many, the end of the year is a time for reflection. A time when we play the “woulda, coulda, shoulda” game. Some follow up with a list of resolutions for the new year.

I am an expert at the “woulda, coulda, shoulda” game.  However, as I’ve experienced life, I’ve learned that the new year brings 365 new opportunities to achieve all the “shoulda’s” that are important.

I do not create resolutions but instead, commit to small sustainable changes.  Below are some quotes that capture some of these changes.

“Celebrate what you want to see more of.” —Tom Peters.   In 2021, I will use my voice to celebrate research that disaggregates data in meaningful ways.  Our March WISER Dialogue will be a conversation with Nicole MartinRodgers, Senior Research Manager, Amherst H. Wilder Foundation.  Nicole is an expert and advocate for the disaggregation of data.

“I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you’re doing something.” —Neil Gaiman.  I will accept an invitation to write op-eds for Bloomberg.  In doing so, I’ll be pushing myself, expanding WISER’s Community, and educating others about the importance of disaggregating data.

“Ring out the false, ring in the true.” —Alfred Lord Tennyson.  I will be more active about calling out the injustices and misinformation about Asian, Black, Hispanic, Indigenous American, and Multiracial women.

“Is it possible that the square root of impossible is me?”—“Square Root of Possible,” Jingle Jangle  When I started WISER in March 2016, it felt like an impossible dream. WISER will celebrate its 5th anniversary in March 2021.  WE will continue to focus our energy on building a new standard for data collection and research – the disaggregation of data.

Donations will provide the resources to continue our disaggregated data approach to women-focused research. Your support will also strengthen our footprint across the country and accelerate our Mission.

Happy New Year!
